The project proposal aims to contribute to lower the radicalization that the EU and its neighbouring countries are suffering by strengthening the competences of youth organizations and youth workers to work systematically and consistently on peace education, more precisely on the aspects connected to the radicalization.
Therefore, the youth workers and youth educators will participate in two e-learning modules and two training courses in Georgia strengthening their competences in educational programme development and approaches to work with youth on the topic of de-radicalization.
The educational programme of the project is based on the experiences of the organizers, partner organizations and experts involved in designing peace education activities and the “Designing learning for Peace” Competence Framework on Peace Education.
Objectives of the project:
To strengthen the competences of the youth workers and youth educators in designing peace education workshops and training programmes focussing on empowering young people to resist extremism and radicalisation
To review the competence framework on peace education and develop complementary educational materials for peace education addressing extremism and radicalisation
To develop educational guidelines for the creation of a peaceful and encouraging learning environment
To strengthen and intensify transnational cooperation between the project partners and translate it into sustainable implementation of peace education programmes targeting extremism and radicalisation
The project will include two e-learning modules, two residential training courses, and follow-up events.
Activity details and timeline:
1. 1st e-learning module (4 weeks, online, August-September 2017): The e-learning course cover the main content of the competence framework “Designing Learning for Peace”, including the areas of peace education and the main competences each of them implies.
2. 1st Training Course (Kobuleti, Georgia. 11-19 September 2017): The 1st residential training course continues to explore the competence framework and looks at specificities of peace education for young people.
3. 2nd e-learning module (4 weeks, online, October-November 2017): During the 2nd e-learning the training partnerships established during the 1st training course develop their own session outlines for the 3-day peace education programme on empowering young people to resist radicalisation and extremism and provide peer to peer feedback.
4. 2nd Training Course (Rustavi, Georgia, 04-12 December 2017): The 2nd residential training courses focusses on training delivery for peace education programmes addressed at young people. The participants will conduct together a 3-days programme on peace education.
5. Follow-up events (January-March 2018): All participants are required to make use of their learning outcomes by organising a short workshops on peace education with young people.
